Easter 2009 at Nanny Grey's

Nanny Grey and two of her great-grandkids, Carson and Hunter.

This year my mom volunteered to host Easter Dinner and an egg hunt. I was more than happy to be the invitee instead of the invitor. For some odd reason I have a case of laziness that has lasted all winter and now is hanging around for the spring too.

Mom was a good little Betty Crocker. She had the table set when we got there. She even had a kids table set up. The food was waiting to be eaten and most of the eggs had been hidden by Papa Grey. My only duty was to hide a few additional eggs. I guess that was not too much to ask.

Dinner was really good. She had turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, squash, corn, rolls and banana pudding for dessert. Yummm..... the best meal I had all week. Especially since Billy Head had the stomach bug all week and food had not been a priority at our house.

Ready, Set, Go...........

The Hunt begins...

The friendly neighbor and Papa Grey

The Spectators

The Final Count

When it comes to Nanny's Easter Egg Hunts... everyone is a winner. All the eggs had money or candy in them. Things sure have changed.....back in the day the Easter Bunny was cheap. (Just kidding Mom)

What beautiful Easter memories.

Random Things About Me- #6

After some deep thought, I've decided to share this with you.....

Spaghetti is my ALL TIME favorite food!

Over the years some other foods have made their way to my list of favorites and have included Swiss Cheese, Steak, Fried Mushrooms, shrimp, homegrown tomatoes and crab legs. But the one food that remains constant and has topped my list since childhood is good ole homemade SPAGHETTI. I guess it must be that Italian blood that runs thru my veins. Nothing like a plate of slippery noodles covered with tomato sauce.....Speaking of slippery noodles this story just popped in my head.
When I was a child around 9 or 10, my parents had just bought new furniture for our family room and we were not allowed to eat in there. So I begged mom to please let me eat on the new furniture so I could watch TV while I ate. I promised I would be careful and not spill anything, especially not the plate of spaghetti I was about to devour. She finally conceded and told me I better not get anything on the furniture. Famous last words..... can you guess what happened and where that plate of SLIPPERY NOODLES wound up? I'll let your imagination finish the story. I'll add this..... I was in BIG BIG TROUBLE!!!
